While Honda may not be at the forefront of sustainable driving initiatives like some other Japanese automotive brands, the company is currently working on several environmentally friendly projects. Recently, it unveiled its eco-friendly two-wheelers at EICMA 2024 in Milan, Italy. Among these are the EV Fun Concept and EV Urban Concept, both of which are poised to enter global markets soon.
The first model, the EV Fun Concept, is designed as a sportier option with an elegant design. The manufacturer states that it leverages existing technologies from its motorcycle lineup. These components provide the electric bike with exceptional handling, dependable braking capability, and a comfortable ride experience.
According to Honda, the “EV Fun Concept is Honda’s first electric sports model, and it is being developed as a next-generation electric motorcycle that provides a unique experience of quiet riding along with the distinct emotional appeal of electric motorcycles.”
In contrast to traditional internal combustion engines, owners will experience a ride that is virtually silent and free from vibrations. The EV Fun Concept opts for an integrated power source within the chassis rather than using a detachable battery. This design choice is likely intended to bolster the overall structural integrity of the frame.
Additionally, the bike’s battery supports Combined Charging System Type 2 (CCS2) rapid charging connectors, allowing users to connect the e-bike to most electric vehicle charging stations effortlessly. When fully charged, riders can expect a range of around 62 miles.
On another front, Honda is also appealing to urban commuters who desire a compact and zero-emission option. The press release for the EV Urban Concept states, “It embodies a vision of near-future mobility that cooperates and resonates with people and society through its essential and sophisticated styling, intuitive human-machine interface (HMI).”
