Archiproducts and Alcantara have once again joined forces to create a distinctive exhibit inspired by water for interior design, currently on display at the Studiopepe architecture studio on Via Tortona in Milan and open to the public.
Unveiled during the recent Milan Design Week 2024, “AQUA. A Design Exploration” is available for public viewing for the upcoming year. Alcantara and Archiproducts had already collaborated in designing “Terra. Inspired by Earth” for Milan Design Week 2023.
The furnishings in this year’s exhibit, including furniture, curtains, wall coverings, and ceiling treatments, have been specifically crafted to evoke various aspects of water. They are adorned with hues ranging from cool white, softer aqua-green, and light blue to intense ultra-marine, electric blue, and deep dark oceanic shades.
Innovative techniques such as micro-dot foil-refined pleating, prints, and three-dimensional embossing have been utilized to transform Alcantara’s “Made in Italy” material into shades reflecting the essence of oceans, fresh-water streams, and pools.
During Milan Design Week, Alcantara also played a role in two other significant events at Triennale Milano and at the ADI Design Museum.
At Triennale Milano, an exhibition showcased Alcantara-infused art pieces inspired by visual artists, fashion designers, industrial designers, film directors, architects, and musicians, featuring notable figures such as Alberto Biasi, Zhang Chun Hong, Qin Feng, Yuri Ancarani, Nanda Vigo, Lorenzo Vitturi, and Soundwalk Collective.
Furthermore, Alcantara’s special display “Driving into Endless Customizations” highlighted the use of Alcantara material in automotive interiors like dashboards, doors, and seats at the ADI Design Museum, coinciding with the Car Design Award program.
Carlo Ammirati, Alcantara’s Sustainability Director and Innovation Manager, took part in discussions on “Inhabiting the Car” as part of the Car Design Award program at the museum. Among the other speakers were Rossella Guasco, vice president of C&M Design for Stellantis Europe; Francesca Sangalli, head of Color & Trim and Concept & Strategy at SEAT/CUPRA/SEAT MO’ Design (VW Group); and Stefano Piontini, partner at Vudafieri Saverino Partners Shanghai.
