Situated at the intersection of Colorado Avenue and Brand Boulevard, and serving as one end of The Americana mall, Chef Michael Mina’s Bourbon Steak features a spacious and open layout complemented by a contemporary dark wood ambiance, an extensive bar area, round beige leather booths, and a seamless indoor/outdoor patio.
This year marks the 10th anniversary of Bourbon Steak. Earlier this month, on August 15th, the establishment hosted a distinctive dinner to commemorate their decade of being one of the finest steakhouses in Los Angeles.
Bourbon Steak is Mina’s 18th establishment, with a menu that features classic Mina favorites such as the lobster pot pie, grass-fed steaks, and duck fat fries served with three sauces, alongside unique offerings like duck spring rolls, and Ahi tartare accompanied by Asian pear and pine nuts. Additionally, they provide a traditional Petrosian Caviar service as well as tableside presentations for their renowned lobster pot pie, Japanese whiskey, and bourbon tastings.
New to the fall selection is the robust lobster mezzaluna featuring Calabrian chili, colatura, braised fennel, and breadcrumbs. Among starters, the innovative rendition of the wedge salad served in manageable smaller lettuce bowls filled with blue cheese, bacon, eggs, tomatoes, red onions, and buttermilk ranch dressing was remarkable and an excellent beginning to the meal. The lamb kebobs paired with a creamy yogurt sauce were equally delightful.
We indulged in a generous 16-ounce bone-in Cowboy ribeye and Mina’s distinctive half-roasted Mary’s chicken served with spring vegetables, carrot puree, and chicken jus.
For dessert, we indulged in the decadent 24K Molten Chocolate Cake Sundae topped with Luxardo cherries, vanilla bean ice cream, and Valrhona chocolate, the Bourbon Steak Candy Bar crafted with a dark chocolate brownie, peanut butter ganache, and peanuts, and the Brulee Basque Cheesecake garnished with fresh and roasted strawberries.
The cuisine at Bourbon Steak consistently exceeds expectations. The service is equally exceptional every time I visit. The ambiance strikes a balance between comfort and elegance, and the staff always welcomes us like family. This is why I regard Bourbon Steak as the premier steakhouse in the Los Angeles area.
