Among the rugged off-road SUVs bearing the Defender name, Land Rover promises that their new Defender OCTA will redefine toughness, capability, and luxury. Named after an octahedral diamond, this vehicle will be equipped with an electrified twin-turbo V-8 engine and Land Rover’s advanced 6D Dynamics air suspension system. This model will feature hydraulic interlinked dampers and adjustable air springs to maintain stability during challenging off-road adventures, offering unmatched performance during acceleration, braking, and cornering.
While the specifications including trim packages and the specific twin-turbo V-8 engine choice for the vehicle are yet to be revealed, it is speculated that the OCTA might utilize the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V-8 engine seen in the 2024 Range Rover Sport SV, considering the power output of the current Defender 110 which stands at 518 horsepower. This powerful performance is expected to appeal to both current and future Defender enthusiasts.
Defender OCTA: The New High-Performance Star
Teaser images shared by JLR reveal the unique encircled diamond design, seen on various interior and exterior elements including crafted titanium discs on Signature Graphic panels. Managing Director Mark Cameron describes the graphic as a symbol of the vehicle’s strength, resilience, and desirability.
According to Cameron, “This new signature graphic is particularly important as it will distinguish all flagship Defender models in the future, showcasing their outstanding performance and fresh attitude. The new Defender OCTA will elevate luxury and empower our customers to embark on extraordinary adventures.”
Prior to its official debut, potential buyers will have the opportunity to attend exclusive previews within the global Defender Elements series. Until then, the OCTA will be tested in varying terrains including the snowy landscapes of Sweden, the rocky paths of Moab, the deserts of Dubai, and the challenging Nürburgring track.
