Seldom do visitors have the opportunity to relish a personal lift leading to their suite, but that’s just one of the exclusive advantages at Les Suites At The Cliff Bay in Madeira. Positioned atop a natural ledge close to Pirates Bay, this deluxe hotel presents breathtaking scenes of the Atlantic Ocean. Renovated three years ago and affiliated with the esteemed PortoBay Hotels & Resorts chain, this 5-star sanctuary contains 200 suites offering various splendid outlooks and opulent facilities. Just a brief 15-minute walk from Funchal, the capital city of the island, it serves as an ideal refuge for discerning voyagers.
Our duplex, identified as number 63 and spread across two levels, was tastefully decorated with organic elements such as sleek timber and wool, enhanced by art deco touches. The inviting lounge featured a plush sofa, cozy armchairs, a television broadcasting 120+ channels, and an assortment of books in diverse languages. Two balconies offered expansive panoramic views of the lush environment and the sea. The lavishly fitted bathroom, embellished with marbled tiles, showcased premium Bulgari bath products, while the oversized bed pledged serene nights of slumber.
Dining at Avista eatery, celebrated for its far-reaching vistas of Funchal bay, evolved into a culinary extravaganza. We luxuriated in an assortment of dishes expertly crafted by the skilled chef and tried a range of beverages from an extensive drink selection. The welcoming personnel, including our dedicated attendant Danusia Inty and dining room supervisor Kyrylo Vasylyev, ensured our dining escapade was extraordinary.
The premises feature an assortment of dining establishments, sporting amenities, and recreational diversions, encompassing several swimming pools, a tennis court, and fully-equipped fitness centers. We partook in a pampering session for couples at the wellness center, savoring a sumptuous bath, full-body massage, and awe-inspiring vistas of the cliffs and urban panorama.
My preferred sanctuary was the Infinity Pool Bar, where I luxuriated in splendid views of the Atlantic Ocean and Funchal. A short stroll took me to the Museum of Modern Art of Madeira (MAMMA), a lively cultural center exhibiting diverse art forms and hosting musical events.
Our sojourn at Les Suites At The Cliff Bay was genuinely memorable, thanks to the lavish quarters, outstanding dining offerings, and captivating panoramas. Madeira beckons as a heavenly locale waiting to be explored.
