Overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the opulent Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita is commemorating Día de los Muertos. The resort will host its annual Catrinas Fest, a lively three-day event occurring from November 1 to 3, 2024. This celebration features exclusive dinners, themed cocktail parties, cooking demonstrations led by celebrated chefs and mixologists, and cultural experiences that encompass music and activities suitable for families and individuals of all ages.
“We proudly celebrate Día de Los Muertos with a culinary journey through the customs of Mexico, complemented by cultural experiences and workshops that are deeply embedded in Mexico’s rich heritage and traditions,” stated John O’Sullivan, Regional Vice President and General Manager of Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. “We are privileged to welcome remarkable Mexican talent to the hotel for the weekend, enabling our guests to fully engage in the culturally diverse cuisine of the country, which pairs beautifully with a variety of visual and immersive programs that honor the spirit of the holiday celebrating life, family, and companionship.”
Indulge in the Festivities
Executive Chef Jorge Gonzales from Dos Catrinas will craft exciting traditional Mexican meals alongside distinguished visiting chefs, such as Chef Richard Sandoval, James Beard Semi-Finalist Carlos Galana from the Michelin-recognized Guzina Oaxaca in Mexico City, and Chef Jose Miguel Garcia of Espantapájaros and La Barraca in Mexico City.
In addition to the resort’s customary offerings, various onsite dining establishments will showcase distinct culinary events. Begin the holiday weekend on Nov. 1, during Tertulia Night with a multi-station dinner at Dos Catrinas. Skilled makeup artists will be on-site to apply traditional Mexican Dia de los Muertos face paint. Festivities will feature stilt walkers and performances by local musicians.
The following evening will showcase a Barbacoa demonstration at Cuevas Beach at 6:30 p.m. This local indigenous method of slow-cooking a whole animal in a pit oven will see the Resort’s chefs displaying the meat preparation process, including marination with agave leaves, and garnishing with onion and cilantro. Complimentary tastings will be available, and Dos Catrinas guests can enjoy additional prepared meat as a main course.
Día de Muertos Dinner
On Saturday, November 2 at Dos Catrinas, guests may reserve a table for a multi-course dinner experience. Guest chefs will present their own dishes, showcasing their unique creativity and skill. The dinner will be complemented by live music from local artists.
Clase Azul Mez Bar Takeover
After dinner, on November 2, attendees are invited to unwind with a nightcap at the lively MEZ bar. Mexico’s cherished tequila brand Clase Azul is partnering with festive decorations and a distinctive, signature Día de Los Muertos bottle. Enjoy some of the innovative cocktails, and sample one or several of the 70 varieties of mezcal. Live music will enhance the festivities throughout the evening.

From 10 am to 2 pm, this ultimate Sunday brunch buffet showcases traditional barbacoa, chilaquiles, a raw bar, Mexican pastries, freshly prepared omelets and pancakes, along with the signature Bloody Catrinas morning beverage. Live entertainment by a marimba duo will delight attendees throughout the brunch.
Cooking Sessions
