Located on the north-eastern coast of Corfu, Almyros Beach Hotel & Spa is a charming destination for families seeking an active holiday experience.
Led by the vibrant and welcoming general manager, Dimitris Moraitis, 48 years old, the range of indoor and outdoor activities available for both kids and adults is truly impressive, including a secluded sandy beach equipped with sun loungers and umbrellas.
No matter the sport you enjoy, chances are you’ll find it at this popular hotel, whether it’s soccer, tennis, gym sessions, volleyball, swimming in the freshwater pools, or the turquoise sea just a short 50 meters away. The hotel even organizes daily fitness classes, including aqua exercises.
Children can have endless fun at the outdoor playground with water slides, playing table tennis, or splashing around in their own shallow pool.
But the fun doesn’t stop during the day. In the evenings, Moraitis, a local of Corfu, and his team organize entertaining quizzes and musical events like karaoke nights.
For those looking for more relaxing experiences, there’s the Pasithea Spa and Wellness center, named after the Greek Goddess of calm, which offers three treatment rooms, a hammam, sauna, and a beauty salon.
Established a little over three years ago, the hotel, a part of the V Hotels Group where Dimitris has been working for over five years, boasts 180 rooms and suites amidst lush botanical gardens filled with exotic blooms like Mexican petunias and Indian plumes, as well as various herbs such as lavender, myrtle, and rosemary, along with swaying palm and lemon trees.
Each room features a private balcony with views of the sea, the pool, or the garden. Our spacious room, number 114 on the first floor, had modern furnishings and a balcony with twin chairs and a small table, overlooking the pool area and the sea beyond. The room was equipped with a large TV, a cozy armchair, a sofa, and a coffee table.
Dining at Almyros offers both buffet and à la carte options. The buffet is served in a ground-floor restaurant with a glass facade and a spacious terrace with views of the pool and sea. Different sections offer a wide array of hot dishes, salads, and desserts. During our visit, the menu featured pasta dishes, grilled meats like lamb, beef, and pork, chickpea burgers, mushroom pie, and various fish and seafood options.
For a more intimate dining experience, the upstairs restaurant offers an à la carte menu where we enjoyed sea bream, octopus, squid with saganaki, and rib-eye steak. The hotel also features three distinct bars – one near the buffet area, one upstairs with a sea-facing balcony, and another close to the outdoor pools.
V Group has acquired an additional 41 acres adjacent to the hotel with plans to develop villas featuring private pools, restaurants, bars, and double the room sizes.
The vibrant Greek lifestyle is within easy reach from the hotel, with the quaint town of Acharavi situated less than three kilometers away. Here you’ll find a 7-kilometer pebble beach and a variety of tavernas, shops, cafes, and eateries. The town also hosts a small folklore museum.
A short fifteen-minute drive from the hotel along a winding rural road will bring you to ‘Bee Happy,’ where you can witness a queen bee laying up to 2,000 eggs per day, along with worker bees collecting pollen from nearby flowers. You can also purchase flavorful honey varieties ranging from oak and orange blossom to wild forest.
