Seafood restaurants in Florida run the gamut from those serving up uber fresh, just-caught fare to the masses to lively locations by the sea.
One spot in Jupiter, Florida continues to stand out with both offerings – doling out inventive New Orleans-inspired dishes along with spectacular views of Jupiter Inlet.
Lucky Shuck Oyster Bar & Taphouse’s waterfront location boasts an impressive raw bar selection that includes jerk-spiced seared tuna, ahi tuna poke tacos, and shellfish towers with all the traditional accompaniments along with some fun finds (think passion fruit cucumber mignonette).
The seafood-centric menu here includes the usual suspects, but with an unsuspecting twist. For example, PEI mussels are made with bacon lardons and Creole mustard. Shrimp and sweet corn hush puppies are served with a house remoulade, and the popular Nawlins-style “BBQ” shrimp made with black garlic tonkatsu and crystal spicy aioli is served over grits.
Be sure to request a table on the patio overlooking the ocean where servers let diners linger longer to soak in the spectacular views.
Get started with one of their creative cocktails like Storm’s Brewin’, a fruity blend of passion fruit and aged rums, or the smoky Good Time Shirley featuring Blanco tequila and Mezcal, hibiscus and hellfire tincture. Lucky Shuck also offers 45 beers from local craft breweries.
One of their signatures appetizers includes lobster and shrimp dynamite served atop crispy grits.
Oysters here are offered fresh on the half shell, fried, roasted, or grilled with casino butter topped with cornbread crumble and hot sauce for extra flavor.
The Gulf Coast menu also features a fresh catch of the day that can be prepared to your liking – simply grilled, blackened, or pan seared.
Daily creations may include blackened swordfish with sweet potato and jalapeno mash, or opt for one of their popular dishes like rock shrimp scampi available on the main menu.
Land lovers will appreciate seeing Cajun chicken, a char grilled 14-ounce New York strip with green peppercorn bourbon sauce, and fall-off-the-bone baby back ribs with homemade barbecue sauce accompanied by braised collard greens.
If you can save room for dessert, and we recommend you do, the tropical Key lime pie offers a nice twist on a familiar find with toasted coconut meringue, pecan-graham cracker, passion fruit, and guava.
Other sweet treats available from the “Lucky Faves” menu include a toasted s’mores cheesecake topped with caramel popcorn; a brookie bar with whipped white chocolate ganache and a chocolate cookie crunch; and carrot cake with brown butter cream cheese.
Lucky Shuck Oyster Bar & Taphouse is located at 1116 Love Street in Jupiter, Florida.
