Located strategically in the arts district of San Francisco, only a short distance away from the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, the majestic Hyatt Regency San Francisco Downtown SOMA stands tall on 3rd Street like a 36-floor giant overseeing the diverse array of artistic expressions in the vicinity.
The hotel embraces an art-focused theme in its recent transformation, crafted in collaboration with the well-known design firm BHDM Design. Their vision revolved around reimagining the hotel through an arts-focused perspective, drawing inspiration from its prime location in the heart of San Francisco’s Arts District, home to various museums such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Museum of the African Diaspora, and the Contemporary Jewish Museum.
As part of this art-centric narrative, the Hyatt Regency established an exclusive partnership with the renowned Academy of Art University, a leading art school in San Francisco and one of the nation’s largest private art and design universities. Collaborating closely with BHDM and the University, the hotel commissioned artwork from selected students and alumni spanning various mediums including sculpture, digital motion graphics, photography, mixed media, painting, drawing, and landscape architecture. These commissioned pieces adorn the hotel’s public spaces on the ground floor, including the vibrant new lobby bar and restaurant, garden bar and lounge, check-in area, Marketplace and Coffee Bar, workstations, and the new Regency Club.
Beyond the impressive works of art lining the walls, guests are treated to breathtaking views of the city and the Bay, providing a quintessential San Francisco experience from their arrival, transforming an ordinary hotel stay into an urban sanctuary that fosters productivity for business travelers and relaxation for vacationers.
The guestrooms serve as a serene backdrop to the overall experience, featuring a color palette of grays, creams, and woods. The spacious, renovated bathrooms boast glazed black and white brick tiles, marble-like floors, custom vanities, and illuminated mirrors, complete with luxury bath and body products from San Francisco-based Pharmacopia. All guestrooms and suites come equipped with 55-inch smart TVs offering live streaming, a technology hub with multiple USB charging ports, and a refrigerator. Additionally, in-room amenities include Wi-Fi, laptop-sized electronic safes, and complimentary Starbucks coffee, espresso, and tea for the guests’ convenience. The extensive redesign encompasses upgrades to the 20 executive corner suites, two presidential suites, and all 686 guest rooms.
To cater to the business travelers frequenting the area, the hotel offers versatile meeting and event spaces, including 16 function rooms, two ballrooms, and several breakout rooms with floor-to-ceiling windows, accommodating a range of events from conventions and trade shows to social gatherings, weddings, and small meetings. The hotel also provides cutting-edge technology, dedicated event planners and culinary teams to meet the diverse needs of various events.
For fitness enthusiasts, the fitness studio is equipped with state-of-the-art gym equipment, including Peloton bikes, ellipticals, treadmills, and a TRX Pro Suspension Trainer, accessible round-the-clock for added convenience.
