Residents of Los Angeles can now enjoy exceptional French cuisine without the need to journey long distances, thanks to the recent establishment of the Amour eatery in West Hollywood.
This charming Parisian Bistro is situated in the former Dominick’s location. Visitors can enter through the compact library where they have the option to select a book and leave a message for their friends and dining companions.
The interior has been entirely revamped to reflect a romantic and French ambiance, featuring hardwood floors imported from Paris, dark brown leather bar stools, vintage wall fixtures, elegant upholstered dining seats and booths, a single candle adorning each table, soft lighting, and exquisite cutlery and tableware.
The outdoor patio exudes the same intimacy and romance, adorned with brick walls, comfortable banquettes and cozy alcove seating, a delightful fireplace, as well as an array of plants and foliage.
Executive chef Dany Chavez-Bello, previously from Spain’s El Bulli and Bouley in NYC, presents an array of French and Japanese fusion dishes.
If your budget allows, consider indulging in the Chef’s Eight Course Tasting Menu, which presently includes a sensational Caledonia Blue Prawn Carpaccio served with leche de tigre sauce; a smoked Chwanmushi flan in truffle dashi, complemented with sea urchin and trout roe; a forager dish featuring mushrooms; a Comte cloud paired with poached eggs and caviar; lemongrass-infused lobster; lavender-seasoned duck breast accompanied by carrot puree and Romanesco; Wagyu beef complemented with beet puree, allumette, mille feuille, and Basque cheesecake. As an unexpected treat, the chef also presents an exceptional chocolate mousse for dessert.
The a la carte menu offers various delectable dishes including celery root carpaccio, Wagyu steak tartare, pumpkin soup, fennel and endive salads, lobster tagliatelle, truffle butter pasta, sole, steak au poivre, lamb saddle with spinach, boeuf bourguignon, and steak served with assorted mushrooms and a truffle glaze.
Every item on the tasting menu was exceptional and beautifully presented. We had the pleasure of conversing with the delightful founder Thomas Fuks, who, together with his wife Abbie, crafted the lavish interior. Fuks has achieved great success in bringing an elegantly sophisticated French bistro to WeHo. Amour is an ideal choice for a Valentine’s dinner, an intimate birthday celebration, a gathering with friends in a large booth, or simply a delightful French meal.
Amour is located at 8715 Beverly Blvd. in West Hollywood and operates from 5:30pm to 11pm from Tuesday to Saturday.
