The Great Barrier Reef, stretching over an area approximately the size of Japan, has faced significant damage from coral bleaching events in recent years. Despite this, much of the marine park continues to thrive and remains a must-visit destination.
Scientists have been working tirelessly to restore the reef, implementing innovative methods to foster coral growth. One such effort is led by Johnny Gaskell and his team, who have set up nurseries within the marine park to propagate coral. Additionally, custom-built tanks are used to nurture the corals for four to five months before being transplanted back into damaged reef sites.
These ongoing restoration efforts show promising results in regenerating the Great Barrier Reef and signify a beacon of hope for the future of this magnificent natural wonder.
