Originally built in 1809, Vernon House in Rowsley showcases the elegance of Georgian architecture. It was recently renovated in 2020 and transformed into a luxurious and picturesque retreat, making it the perfect place to stay for a short getaway in the Peak District this summer. If you’re not familiar with Rowsley, it’s a charming village that is home to the highly acclaimed hotel and restaurant, The Peacock, which is conveniently located opposite Vernon House. Additionally, there is a fantastic nearby pub called The Grouse & Claret, offering another great option for those who prefer to stay closer to home instead of venturing to Bakewell or Matlock.
Vernon House features four spacious bedrooms, with the personal favorite being the top floor room that includes an additional day bed and a games room setup. The house comfortably accommodates 8-10 people, making it an excellent choice for group trips with friends or extended family. The cozy living room has an oak fireplace and British-made sofas, providing comfortable seating for 8 individuals. Additionally, there is a separate library/game room with a large sofa, armchairs, a card table, books, games, and even a record player.
The kitchen at Vernon House is fully equipped for those who enjoy cooking during their vacations. Guests will find stylish crockery and all the necessary electrical appliances, including a range oven, dishwasher, Nespresso coffee machine, toaster, and kettle.
