The Athenian Riviera, celebrated for its shorelines along the sheltered Saronic Gulf and the iconic Temple of Poseidon, is soon to become the site of the largest urban revitalization initiative in Europe. The Ellinikon, an innovative vision introducing a sustainable green metropolis to the historic Greek coastline, aims to showcase a modern lifestyle. Set to become a new symbol of 21st-century Greece, both locals and visitors will be captivated by the vistas of the endless Aegean Sea and stunning sunsets.

Designed to host the world’s largest coastal park, with green spaces surpassing those of Hyde Park in London, the development is set to transform urban living. Featuring a 70:30 ratio of communal green spaces to buildable sections, this eco-friendly and lively community will set the standard for forthcoming luxury projects. The city will emphasize greenery over cramped building areas, with The Ellinikon Park at its core. Spanning 2 million square meters, the park will provide diverse recreational options and play a vital role in enhancing air quality, diminishing noise pollution, and fostering community spirit. In addition to its numerous advantages, the expansive park will also include various green pathways and small parks that will bolster the city’s overall sustainability, illustrating how urban areas can be designed to counteract the detrimental effects of climate change and foster a healthier, more enjoyable living space.

As Athens’ most ambitious initiative in years, this extensive urban haven is being developed from scratch with cutting-edge ‘smart city’ frameworks, employing advanced and inventive technologies. These innovations will enable The Ellinikon to feature ‘15-minute neighborhoods’ where residences, offices, healthcare facilities, hotels, shops, entertainment centers, schools, and playgrounds will all be conveniently reachable within a brief 15-minute stroll. From its 5G fiber-optic network providing top-tier connectivity to smart grid systems that will monitor and decrease energy use, this contemporary city will utilize technology to enhance the everyday experiences of its residents and workforce.

Designed to enhance rather than disrupt daily routines, other technological features include numerous electric vehicle charging stations, IoT solutions for water supply and irrigation management, intelligent sensors, and advanced AI algorithms for its subterranean systems, among others. Most impressively, a user-friendly app connects all the features of The Ellinikon to your smartphone, making amenity bookings or bill payments merely a click away.

With a total of 8,000 new residences planned across various developments, there is significant demand for the city, with coastal units already 95% sold. The Riviera Tower, set to be completed in Q1 2026, will rise as the tallest residential skyscraper in the Mediterranean, featuring 173 apartments with sea views across its 50 levels, marking it as the first green residential skyscraper in Greece and among the greenest in Europe.

The Riviera Galleria will host more than 100 retail options and will be Greece’s inaugural organized upscale retail and culinary hub. Inspired by sailing vessels navigating the Greek waters, this expansive venue will draw international designer boutiques and a range of dining experiences, including award-winning restaurants, stylish cafés, and bistros. Little Athens, scheduled for completion in November 2027, will feature over 100 retail outlets and a 50-meter tall structure designed by Bjarke Ingels containing 88 apartments known as Park Rise.

Located along the immaculate Athenian Riviera, The Ellinikon will also emerge as a premier yachting destination, with the Agios Kosmas Marina providing 337 berths at full capacity. Just steps away from the marina, the development will feature numerous fishing docks, nightclubs, water sports clubs, restaurants, and even outdoor cinemas—making it the perfect destination to dock a yacht. With beach access extending up to 1 km for everyone, the marina will accommodate vessels of various sizes, including super yachts measuring up to 80 meters in length.

Grounded in principles of decarbonization, circularity, and well-being, among the many impressive sustainability initiatives is its underground Wastewater Treatment Plant, designed to process 10,000 cubic meters of urban water daily. It will also house the Ellinikon Mall, the first shopping center in Greece to achieve LEED Gold Certification and utilize artificial intelligence along with a multidimensional entertainment experience to become the shopping hub of the future. The initial phase of the project, encompassing all commercial and residential elements, is anticipated to reach completion in 2026.
