The 750S is McLaren’s lightest and most powerful series-production car to date. Available in both coupe and convertible form, this V8-powered, rear-wheel-drive supercar is designed for the purist. After meticulously analyzing the 720S, McLaren engineers developed the 750S, combining advances in weight-saving, powertrain performance, aerodynamics, and dynamic excellence. Approximately 30% of 750S components are either new or modified to deliver upgrades and a stronger emotional connection with the car.
“To create something even better when you have a car that many drivers recognize as a benchmark, every detail must be examined, and improvements must be made to raise the bar again. This is what we did with the 750S, and the light weight, V8 engine performance, and exceptional dynamic abilities combine to deliver a supercar driving experience that reaches new heights with truly exhilarating levels of emotional connection.” according to Michael Leiters, CEO of McLaren Automotive.
The coupe version of the 750S weighs 1,277 kg in its lightest, driest form, making it the lightest and segment-leading car in terms of power-to-weight ratio, with 587 PS per tonne. It is 193 kg lighter than its nearest competitor, providing a power-to-weight advantage of 22 PS. The 750S Spider boasts the same focus on weight reduction. It incorporates a Retractable Hard Top (RHT), rollover protection system, and a bespoke rear upper structure constructed from carbon fibre monocoque without any additional reinforcement required. It is also segment-leading in power-to-weight terms at 566 PS per tonne, with a dry weight of 1,326 kg.
- The twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 petrol engine now delivers 750 PS and 800 Nm of torque.
- The 7-speed transmission features revised ratios that optimize acceleration.
- The performance is astonishing, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in just 2.8 seconds and from 0 to 200 km/h in 7.2 seconds (Spider 7.3 seconds) – faster than its nearest competitor.
- The 750S has increased downforce and better aerodynamic balance than the 720S.
- The new interior is more driver-focused than ever, with a column-mounted instrument display that lets the driver change suspension and powertrain modes with their hands still on the steering wheel using rocker switches.
