The Wayfarer San Diego, a beachfront hotel, has undergone renovations and now offers 126 coastal-inspired guest rooms and suites. The rooms feature custom art and blend the sights from outside into the rooms. For guests staying in room 231, they can enjoy unobstructed ocean and pool views. The room also has a balcony with seating, making it a perfect spot to check on the waves while enjoying a cup of coffee in the morning. In the evenings, guests can relax on their patio or balcony, enjoying the view of the custom murals on the pool deck and the sound of the nearby waves.
Some guest rooms provide extra space for families and groups. The oceanfront suites have a separate living room area, a king size bed, and a bunk bed. Most rooms are equipped with a 65″ flat screen television, a microwave, and a mini refrigerator. The ground floor suites even have a private covered cabana with lounge chairs, offering additional living space near the pool and whirlpool.
The hotel’s newly opened Zephyr Cafe is an extension of the lobby and serves quick grab-and-go items, Cutwater canned cocktails, pastries, and snacks. In the morning, guests can conveniently grab a cup of Bird Rock Coffee with a croissant or muffin before heading to the beach or taking a walk to Crystal Pier. The cafe pays tribute to the Z-Boys, who made a significant impact on the local skateboarding scene in the 1970s.
For a heartier breakfast, guests can visit the popular Breakfast Republic located down the street from the hotel. The restaurant is known for its quirky and fun brunch-inspired decor, including egg-shaped salt and pepper shakers and a runny egg featured on the building’s exterior. The menu offers a variety of unique brunch options such as Oreo pancakes, pineapple upside-down pancakes, vegan tres leches pancakes, and S’mores French toast. They also serve heartier dishes like Jurassic pork Benedict, breakfast jambalaya, shrimp and grits, and avocado toast. The bar inside the restaurant offers Bloody Mary’s, local craft beer, mimosas, and organic kombucha on tap.
Guests who are interested in learning how to surf can sign up for lessons with the hotel’s partnership with Pacific Surf School. The hotel provides a table and shade tent for beginners, conveniently located across from the hotel on the sand. There are also cruiser bikes available for rent by the hour or half day, allowing guests to explore designated bike paths along the boardwalk to Mission Bay or towards Crystal Pier and La Jolla.
The Wayfarer San Diego offers special prices for guests who book early, as well as special rates for government and military travelers and those looking for a midweek getaway. Guests who stay three nights or more will also receive a room discount.
