As anxiety over insufficient range keeps prospective EV users uncertain, envision the challenge of promoting an even larger battery-electric vehicle to the same demographic. The elements that generally influence efficiency encompass weight, ambient temperature, and aerodynamics.
Nevertheless, THOR Industries surpasses all anticipations by collaborating with Harbinger to create a new platform boasting extraordinary mileage.
We all recognize that companies frequently make ambitious assertions for promotional purposes. To distinguish themselves in a market saturated with competitors, sometimes a bit of exaggeration is necessary to create excitement. Up to this point, supporters of sustainable motoring find themselves with limited choices regarding motorhomes.
Conversely, there exist adventure trailers equipped with solar panels on the roof, able to recharge the electric vehicle you connect it to. Regarding the THOR Industries x Harbinger RV, both organizations are aware of the current constraints of fully electric systems. Consequently, a plug-in hybrid powertrain presents itself as the only feasible solution to tackle this matter.
They also acknowledge that the low-emission gas generator serves as a last-resort backup, capable of recharging the 140 kWh battery when sunlight is lacking for the rooftop solar panels or nearby charging stations. This renders it an appealing off-grid alternative to conventional recreational vehicles.
Bob Martin, President and CEO of THOR Industries states, “Electrification will be integral to the future of mobility, including RVing.” Currently, the joint venture with Harbinger aims to achieve a minimum of 500 miles on a single charge. At the time of writing, there are no specifics available regarding the interior design or other potential trim options.
