Year-round, there’s nothing quite like a waterfront retreat in New England, especially when luxurious accommodations come with sea-to-table dining. That’s the unique offering at Saybrook Point Resort & Marina.
Nestled at the convergence of the Connecticut River and Long Island Sound, this boutique property boasts just 80 guest rooms in the main hotel for a truly personalized experience. From the warm welcome at the front desk to the attentive restaurant service, every team member is dedicated to ensuring a fantastic stay.
We resided in the pet-friendly Stoney Creek Suite, a stunning one-bedroom suite with a plush European pillow-top king bed, and a separate living area with a functional wood-burning fireplace. (Simply ring for a Duraflame log delivery to your room).
Adjacent to the bedroom, a slider opens up to stunning marina views. The mesmerizing sunrises and sunsets are best savored from the front-row terrace seat.
In addition to the main hotel, there are two elegant guesthouses named Three Stories and Tall Tales. Three Stories presents eight bedrooms and communal spaces like the kitchen, TV lounge, game room, and rooftop deck. Tall Tales offers six bedrooms with shared amenities such as a dining room, kitchen, game room with billiards, and a bocce court in the backyard.
For longer stays, explore the two-story Villas featuring two bedrooms and two full bathrooms, or the three-bedroom South Cove Cottage designed to house up to six guests.

For an unforgettable treat, don’t miss the Lighthouse Suite. Nestled at the end of the marina dock, this exclusive sanctuary offers panoramic views of the Long Island Sound and Connecticut River. The 900-square-foot suite includes a living room, separate dining area, kitchenette, bedroom, and full bathroom. Enjoy the waterfront scenes from the private balcony, a perfect spot for morning coffee or evening drinks.

When it comes to dining, a visit to Saybrook Point Resort & Marina would be incomplete without experiencing their on-site restaurant, Fresh Salt. Whether you’re there for summer alfresco dining or winter coziness by the indoor fireplace, this restaurant delivers some of the finest sea-to-table cuisine in New England. We relished breakfast, lunch, and dinner there during our stay.
Breakfast offerings include creative specialties like cheesecake French toast, a breakfast skillet, and smoked salmon-avocado Benedict. Lunch favorites feature a cioppino brimming with shrimp, scallops, calamari, mussels, and swordfish; and Ancho Chile glazed North Atlantic salmon fillet.
For dinner, kick off with Italian squash and autumn squash meatballs topped with parmesan cream sauce; or tuna triangles brimming with tuna tartare served with Ponzu dipping sauce. The pan-seared swordfish steak was a standout winner at our table, perched on delightful squash risotto with sage, leeks, and a rich red wine reduction. The perfectly prepared 14-ounce ribeye with roasted carrots and a crispy potato cake on a savory red wine demi-glace was a crowd-pleaser. The vibrant Choo Choo Lounge, their latest addition off the lobby, is a lovely spot for a nightcap.

Indulge in relaxation at The Spa. After a 50-minute Detox Deep Tissue Massage, we felt rejuvenated and refreshed. The treatment includes a self-heating marine mineral mousse applied to the spinal column to aid toxin elimination. The spa also offers a range of luxurious body treatments such as scrubs, wraps, facials, waxing, manicures, and pedicures.
Don’t forget to grab one of the complimentary bikes from the Front Desk to explore the charming sights of Old Saybrook. Take in a scenic two-mile loop around Fort Monument Park or opt for a more adventurous ride along the waterfront. The public nine-hole Fernwick Golf Course is just a 15-minute stroll from the property. Enjoy shopping and quaint cafés on Old Saybrook’s Main Street, a short two-mile jaunt away. The resort provides complimentary shuttle service to Main Street.
